The following are a few frequently asked questions. If you would like more information please email us anytime.
Where is ONEWAY based?
One Week A Year is located in sunny St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Is ONEWAY a religious organization?
ONEWAY is not affiliated with any religious group or institution, but we respect and welcome all faiths and beliefs. While we have no ties or backing from a religious institution, ONEWAY has a definite spiritual foundation. We believe that there is no great distinction between people. Ultimately, all of us strive to find peace and care for those we love. We share this mission, perhaps, because we are inseparable on a human level. As the Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh says, “We are they. They are us.” This notion of spiritual unity is best demonstrated in how we feel when we help others. The joy is not limited to just the recipient of service. The giver and others benefit as well. Our acts of kindness raise the levels of happiness of even the uninvolved bystanders like ripples goodwill pulsing quietly through our communities.
How much of the donations go to actually helping others?
The short answer is 100%. One Week A Year exists solely to assist others. That means there is no payroll or internal expenses. ONEWAY is self-funded and 100% of donations goes directly to our service projects or projects run by other nonprofit organizations in areas of need. If growth of the company necessitates a need to use funding to cover internal costs, all members and donors will be notified immediately and only funds gathered after the notice will be used to that end.
Is One Week A Year an official nonprofit organization?
Yes. On the legal side of things, One Week a Year is a nonprofit corporation constituted in the state of Florida and is in the process of receiving recognition of tax exempt status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue code.
